The story
I started writing code professionally in 2006, in Bucharest, building websites nobody would remember. Twenty years later I have been a full-stack developer, a lead software architect, a head of engineering and a CTO. For stretches of that, I was also the person whose phone rang when production went down at three in the morning.
That path took me through four countries. San Francisco, where I architected the backend of a social mobile application for a start-up and helped the team raise its Seed and Series A rounds without an hour of API downtime. Ireland, where I lead full-stack work on recruiting platforms, streaming services and marketplaces. Germany, building CRMs and paywalls as a freelancer. And Romania, where I have led engineering teams of ten and, in 2018, co-founded a SaaS business-management product with a name I liked enough to keep.
That product is gone. The name became this company: Wibiway Development, which is me, and which I have deliberately kept that way. When you hire a large agency you are buying a sales process and hoping a good engineer is assigned to you. When you hire Wibiway, the person you brief is the person who architects the system and writes the code.
What I have found, coming to AI from twenty years of distributed systems, is that the hard problems are the familiar ones wearing new clothes. Retrieval is a search and ranking problem. Evaluation is testing. Cost control is capacity planning. Hallucination is an input-validation failure with better manners. The model is remarkable, but the engineering around it is the thing that decides whether your product works, and that engineering is not new.
